Flip Books.

I knew from the start i wanted to hand draw my animation, and my initial idea was to do a flip book.

First look into Animation

These are a couple of animations I've been looking at for ideas. I quite like the 2d time line progression thing of the bike moving forward in the bottom animation.

Task 2 prototypes.

Experimenting with how i can make the plant roots for my final poster design using the same cutting and scoring techniques i applied in task 1.

Mike Perry/Hand drawn typography.

I'm undecided what would be most appropriate for my Task 2 poster, Hand drawn typography, or computer generated font. Either way i've been looking at Mike Perry's work alot lately. I like the naive style of some of his hand drawn fonts, And also the detail he puts into each individual letter on others.

A look at 3D paper typography.

Fonts. Task 2.

Until now i'd not really considered want font would be best for my poster. i personally favor simplistic fonts such as helvetica. but i didn't want to just decide on that without looking at other fonts and see how they work with my design. I've posted some of my favorites.

Task 2 design ideas/experiments.

These are some of my ideas for task 2, i was playing around shining light through the paper, and editing the colours/exposure with photoshop. The idea behind the design is that the roots represent the growth of GF Smith Paper, and the roots lead up to the 100, as in 100 years, and the rays coming from the 100 represent the continuation of the company for many more years to come.

GF Smith Paper.

For Task 2 i started by looking into what GF Smith paper are all about

Yulia Brodskaya

I'm especially into this last piece.

I found looking at Yulia Brodskaya's work a big inspiration boost. she has a unique style when it comes to paper manipulation, and it's also quite illustrative which is the kind of the big i'm planning on doing for my poster design.

Task 1 designs.

i thought i would develop the leaf like form that came out of workshop 3, i made a few of the same leaf shape, going with the theme of repeat, and then played around with how i could fit them together. it seems making the leafs go full circle is the best way to do it. I was originally picturing a kind of lotus flower in my head and this is what came out when developing it. Not quite a lotus flower but definatly flower like elements.
